Canvas Film is an independent film production company founded in 2020 by Ricardo Skaff and Felicity Verdouw, driven by commitment to telling bold, audience driven and contemporary stories that reflect the world we live in.

The Canvas journey began in 2015 when three film-school alumni founded creative content agency, Canvas Collective, inspired by the creative principals and work of iconic, independent filmmaking and a belief in the commercial value of authentic, compelling Australian stories.

In 2017, Canvas embarked on their first feature documentary project, ‘Waterstreet', about the fall of controversial Sydney barrister, Charles Waterstreet. Captured in ‘real-time’ over an almost seven-year period, Waterstreet is a fascinating glimpse into a unique and often shocking journey with an intimacy and scope never before seen in an Australian documentary.  Waterstreet is currently in the final stages of development.

With the appointment of producer Felicity Verdouw as Head of Production, in 2020, Canvas Film was created to support a growing slate of long form projects across both film, television and podcast.

In 2022, Canvas began production on Dangerous Games, a proposed three-part factual series following a local Victorian community football club as they undertake a revolutionary program aimed at combating the growing issue of CTE in the play and practice of their game.  With principal filming beginning in 2023 and continuing throughout the 2025 season, the series is currently planned for release in 2026.

In 2023, Canvas would officially begin production on their latest documentary project, a fascinating look into the world of professional boxing as seen through the meteoric rise of local champion Australian-Samoan boxer, Jai Opetaia.  Following the promising young cruiserweight every step of the way along his journey to become the undisputed world champion, and one of the greatest Australian boxers of all time.
